2009 First Bank/Coalition Golf Classic

It’s that time of year again. The staff and volunteers of the Coalition are gearing up for their largest annual fundraiser - the First Bank/Coalition golf tournament, which has grown in size and money-raised every year. This year’s tournament is scheduled for July 27 at the National Golf Club.

In 2008, the tournament brought in $35,000 for the Coalition, a 501c3 non profit that helps out thousands of Moore County residents each year by providing them with food, clothing and financial assistance during emergencies.

As the outlook on the current economic conditions worsens with each passing day, and jobless rates continue to climb, it’s more important than ever to help those less fortunate than ourselves, which is why the Coalition is seeking sponsors and players for this year’s tournament.

When volunteer Bob Bambaeur started the Coalition’s tournament in 2003, the Coalition was facing a large deficit and this year’s economic climate creates just as big a challenge. Though we aren’t facing a deficit, the number of clients we serve each day continues to grow, but the donations are not. This year the Coalition needs as many sponsors as possible, and the more players, the better.

There are four sponsor levels, the highest being gold, with a donation of $1,400. That donation includes four player spots, recognition in all of the program materials, luncheon, and a sign placed at one of the holes.

The silver sponsor is with a donation of $700. This sponsor receives two player positions in the tournament, sign recognition on a hole with no more than two other signs at that hole, and recognition at the luncheon and in the programs.

The bronze sponsor is a $275 donation. This level receives signage on a hole and recognition at the luncheon and in the programs.

An individual sponsorship is $100 and includes recognition at the luncheon and in the program.

To simply sign up to play for the tournament, the entry fee is $150 and includes carts and greens fees, refreshments on the course, breakfast, lunch, awards and door prizes.

Volunteers are also selling lottery tickets for two prizes – a round of golf for four at either Forest Creek or Pinehurst No. 8. Two names will be drawn for the prize, the first name drawn will get his/her pick of which course they want to play. Ticket holders do not have to be present to win.
